What is Hypnotherapy / Hypnosis?
It is Natural
Hypnosis is simply a natural and altered state of mind where there is communication and responsiveness with the subconscious mind. The average person goes in and out of a hypnotic state on their own 4 to 6 times per day. This is a time when you are likely performing a routine task and you may go on “autopilot” or the moments just before you fall asleep. For example, many of us have experienced driving a familiar route, maybe to our home, and when we arrive we realize we don’t really remember driving part of the route. This is when our subconscious takes over and our logical reasoning mind thinks about other things. This may also happen when you are watching a movie and you become so engrossed in the movie you become less aware of your surroundings.
Hypnotherapist is a Guide
As your Hypnotherapist, my job is to help you access this state of awareness intentionally, in order to effect the powerful change that you desire in your life. We carry around THE most powerful tool in our known world! The subconscious mind functions to our benefit every day. All of our autonomic systems are run by our subconscious minds. Imagine having to consciously direct all of your bodily functions through-out the day! That would be insanity: lungs filter air, kidneys clean blood, heart pump, cells divide and on and on. Our subconscious mind is there to serve and protect us and to make it possible for us to live a meaningful life. The subconscious mind is also the seat of our memories.
Keep your ‘Programs’ Updated
When we are very young we are learning many processes at an alarming rate. Think about watching a baby learn to walk. Imagine if that group of processes had to be relearned every time we took a step! Whew! That would make life near impossible. The habit/memory of walking is stored in our subconscious mind like an application on your smartphone or a program on your computer. And whenever you decide to walk that program is there and ready for you.
There are thousands upon thousands of ‘programs’ like this running in the subconscious mind. Some of them do not serve us as well as others and may have been “locked in” during a stressful time. Some may have gotten solidified due to a force of habit.
The beauty of hypnotherapy is, we can artfully conduct ‘maintenance’ and change the programs that you feel no longer serve you into programs that enable you to reach your goals with ease.
Your mind is a powerful tool. I am here to assist you to utilize the power of your subconscious and conscious mind to affect the change you desire.
